Meet Jibreel
Jibreel is the son of a union nurse and a taxi driver who came to New York in pursuit of the American dream. Born and raised right here in Brooklyn, he learned early that strong neighborhoods are built by families, faith, and hard work — especially when government falls short.
A community organizer, nonprofit leader, and Obama Scholar, Jibreel has committed his life to serving others and fighting for working families. He’s helped stop a toxic facility near homes and schools, secured $1.6 million to prevent gun violence, supported workers in winning a union, and built a small business — so he knows what it means to meet payroll and push through red tape.
Now, he’s running for State Assembly to deliver a government that puts people before politics and helps families stay, grow, and thrive here in Brooklyn.

ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 59
Canarsie, Flatlands, Georgetown, Mill Basin, Marine Park, Bergen Beach and Gerritsen Beach
The 59th Assembly District stretches across Brooklyn’s southern shore along the Jamaica Bay connecting some of the borough’s most diverse and close-knit waterfront and residential communities. The district includes Canarsie, Flatlands, Georgetown, Mill Basin, Marine Park, Bergen Beach, and Gerritsen Beach.
AD59 is home to treasured community spaces such as Canarsie Pier, Marine Park & Canarsie Park, Floyd Bennet Field, and the vibrant commercial corridors. The district features a mix of residential single-family homes, NYCHA developments, small business hubs, local schools, and active civic associations that anchor neighborhood life.
This campaign is about us — the people — taking back power from the broken political system.
